I feel beyond blessed to be a mother, it has opened my eyes to so much and I cannot hide from my sin. IT stares me in the face every day. MOTHERHOOD, a life of sacrifice! Yes, that is what it is and I am so thankful for the opportunity. Go MOMS!!!!! Love with nothing in return and expect nothing, NOTHING!! Our mercies are new every morning. The word is the only thing that will satisfy our very hungry and thirsty souls. Go MOMS!!!! Pray like never before. The only hope we have for our children is that God would save them!! God please save my children, change their hearts and turn them toward you. You are my only hope, You are the treasure. Go MOMS!!!

The Love of a mother.
As I am cleaning the house and picking up after the kids, my daughter is disobeying me behind my back. It makes me want to scream at her and say, WHY DO I DO ANYTHING FOR YOU, YOU ARE NOT THANKFUL, YOU JUST TAKE AND TAKE AND TAKE!!!! I did not say that. There are many times a day that I want to scream that. Just as I think this, God reminds me of unconditional love. It is so hard to love with nothing in return, it is hard to love if they do not show love. Yes, of course there are times where we just hug and love on each other but there are many times that I feel very used and I am. This is exactly what I did to my mother. I often find myself wanting to act like a child. when they are mean, I want to be mean back. Being a mother has and will take everything I have to give. Every bit of patience, love, organization, creativity, perseverance, endurance, energy, it will take it all. As I struggle with my flesh God is bringing forth sin and selfishness and it has been so sanctifying. I can only imagine what is ahead. Those of you mothers that have raised kids are thinking, Jen, you have only just started, you better get ready.

Jen, I struggle with this every day too! Sometimes I feel like my kids are just sucking the life right out of me! But I love them SO MUCH that it only takes a little bit of giving from them to fill my heart... I have five kids ranging in age from 20 to 5, and it's hard, but it's the most fulfilling thing I can imagine. It just makes me feel comforted to know that I am not the only one who has those feelings, so thank you for sharing!
Amen sister....when I finally fall into bed at night completely exhausted it is the best physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual exhaustion I have ever felt. And as I reflect on my day I realize that someday I will miss these days and God is always faithful in giving me strength for the next day. It is so true how motherhood causes us to stare our sin right in the face and die to self minute by minute. It also puts me in such a humble and vulnerable position...thanks for this post. love ya.
This is a great post and one that most of us can relate to. I love your motivation to continue in joyful perseverance. You mention that some moms of older kids might think you are only just beginning, but we live in each moment with an opportunity to glorify God now, not tomorrow or next year. God's grace and his mercies are an ever PRESENT help and new each morning, as you point out. I stopped in because I overheard your hubby at the DGNC talking about your adoption so I introduced myself as we finalized our adoption recently. It was great to speak with Jake and I love the pictures of your three children that you hope to meet soon. I'll keep checking in to see the progress with your adoption.
Oh how I too can relate. Thank you for the honest post. Continuing with you in the fight for joy.
You are one fantastic mama...
Much love lady.
